The multiscale finite element method has shown its high potential for the simulation of the eddy current problem in closed magnetic circuits with laminated cores. This work introduces a novel approach to extend the multiscale finite element method to open magnetic circuits. To this end, three-dimensional eddy current problems with the novel T,Φ-Φ multiscale formulation and linear material relations have been studied. The excitation is given by a current driven coil. Numerical results demonstrate the high accuracy of the method. With the novel approach global properties such as the eddy current losses and the reactive power are precisely approximated and the local field distributions are also accurately reproduced.
