dc.description.abstract
With the rising development of novel and specialized materials for various technological applications, reliable analytical methods for characterization are vital to improve materials further, provide quality control and enable failure analysis.Conventional analysis methods show limitations for analyzing specialized engineered materials, which can result in unsatisfactory and insufficient analysis results that lack information or even present misleading conclusions. Solid sampling techniques such as laser ablation are utilized to overcome the drawbacks of wet chemical analysis.Information about the elemental composition and the organic structure of a sample, as well as the spatial distribution within the sample material, are essential for the characterization of a material.
