REFUGIUM M - Nordmazedonien

Abstract

Diese Diplomarbeit befasst sich mit dem Entwurf eines Hotel- und Spa-Komplexes in Nordmazedonien, etwa 10 km von der Stadt Veles entfernt, eingebettet zwischen dem See „Mladost“ und einercharaktervollen Berglandschaft. Ziel des Projekts ist es, die außergewöhnliche landschaftliche Kulisse architektonisch erlebbar zu machen und ein harmonisches Zusammenspiel von Natur, Erholung und regionaler Baukultur zu schaffen.Im Zentrum der Entwurfsstrategie stehen die sensible Einbettung des Gebäudes in das Gelände, die Verwendung lokaler Materialien sowie die gezielte Öffnung der Baukörper zur Landschaft und zum angrenzenden Gewässer. Der Entwurf umfasst großzügige Spa-Bereiche, einen Infinity-Pool mit Ausblick auf den See, individuell gestaltete Gästezimmer mit privaten Balkonen sowie eine offen konzipierte Gastronomie mit Innen- und Außenbezügen.Die Arbeit basiert auf einer detaillierten Analyse der klimatischen, landschaftlichen und kulturellen Gegebenheiten der Region sowie auf einer Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen Tendenzen der Hotelarchitektur im alpinen und mediterranen Raum. Das Ergebnis ist ein architektonisches Konzept, dasortsgebundene Qualitäten mit einem ganzheitlichen Erholungserlebnis verbindet und dem Ort eine unverwechselbare Identität verleiht.

This thesis presents the design of a hotel and spa complex in North Macedonia, located approximately 10 km from the city of Veles, nestled between Lake Mladost and the surrounding mountainous landscape. The project aims to make theregion’s exceptional natural scenery architecturally tangible and to create a harmonious interaction between nature, relaxation, and regional building culture.The core of the design strategy is the sensitive integration of the building into the terrain, the use of local materials, and the deliberate orientation of the architectural volumes toward the landscape and the adjacent body of water. The design includes expansive spa areas, an infinity pool with breathtaking views of the lake, individually designed guest rooms with private balconies, and an open-conceptrestaurant offering both indoor and outdoor experiences.The project is based on a detailed analysis of the climatic, topographic, and cultural characteristics of the region, as well as on a study of contemporary hotel architecture in Alpine and Mediterranean contexts. The result is an architectural concept that combines a strong sense of place with a holistic experience of relaxation, giving the location a unique and memorable identity.
