'studere et laborare' Entwurf einer zukünftigen Fachhochschule auf dem Areal der ehemaligen Magdeburgkaserne in Klosterneuburg (NÖ)

Abstract

Die Stadt Klosterneuburg (NÖ) stellt im Stadtentwicklungskonzept 2030+ (STEK 2030+) unter anderem den Fokus auf Wissenschaft und Forschung. Das Ziel: Die Erweiterung des tertiären Bildungssektors in Form von Fachhochschullehrgängen und die Ansiedlung von Unternehmen aus Forschung und Entwicklung. Im Zuge dessen könnte die wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Entwicklung gefördert und neue Arbeitsplätze geschaffen werden. Vor allem in den MINT-Fächern (Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaft und Technik) besteht ein Fachkräftemangel, dem die Fachhochschule gezielt entgegenwirken kann. Vor diesem Hintergrund stellt die ehemalige Magdeburgkaserne aufgrund der Größe und Lage zum Gewerbegebiet Schüttau eine bedeutende Möglichkeit dar, einen neuen Hochschulcampus zu errichten. Nachdem auf politischer Ebene ein Wohnquartier gescheitert ist, bietet sich nun die Fläche für eine zukunftsorientierte Nutzung im Bereich der höheren Bildung an. Durch die Nähe zu Krems (FH-Krems) und St. Pölten (FH-St. Pölten) wird somit eine Bildungsachse geschaffen, die die Region Niederösterreich im tertiären Bildungssektor stärkt. Neben dem Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), Konrad-Lorenz-Institut für Evolutions- und Kognitionsforschung und der Lebensmittelversuchsanstalt LVA würde die Fachhochschule mit dem Fokus auf MINT aufgrund seiner praxisorientierten Ausrichtung den Standort stärken.

Now that a residential quarter has failed at the political level, the site is now available for future-oriented use in the field of higher education. The proximity to Krems (Krems University of Applied Sciences) and St. Pölten (St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences) creates an educational axis that strengthens the Lower Austria region in the tertiary education sector. In addition to the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research and the LVA food research institute, the university of applied sciences with its focus on MINT would strengthen the location due to its practical orientation.
