Vernakuläre Architektur in Tirol Oberland im Wandel : technische, soziale und klimarelevante Aspekte der Veränderung

Abstract

Die gegenständliche Diplomarbeit untersucht die vernakuläre Architektur in Tirol Oberland hinsichtlich Veränderungen technischer, sozialer und klimarelevanter Aspekte. Die Frage nach dem Einfluss dieser Faktoren auf die Genese und Veränderung der betreffenden Architekturen – letztere mit einem zeitlichen Schwerpunkt seit der Nachkriegszeit bis heute – wird besonders thematisiert. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf ländlich-bäuerlichen Objekten, welche den Wohn- und den damit einhergehenden Wirtschaftszwecken dienen. Eine umfassende Recherche in Tirol Oberland wird erarbeitet und einzelne Objekte aus Tirol Unterland werden zum Vergleich herangezogen, um somit die Hauptmerkmale der vernakulären Architektur in Tirol Oberland weiter abzugrenzen und damit herauszuarbeiten. Wichtige Elemente der Analyse sind die Bestandsaufnahmen von regionstypischen Objekten mittels Pläne und Fotografien. Ergänzt wird die Analyse durch mit Architekten:innen, Bewohner:innen, Handwerker:innen und Amtsträger:innen geführten Interviews. Ziel ist es, eine Übersicht über Tirol Oberland zu erarbeiten, welche Aufschluss über die technischen, sozialen und klimarelevanten Größen der Veränderung gibt und diese dokumentiert. Die Diplomarbeit ist eingebettet in die Auseinandersetzung einer Studierendengruppe mit der gesamten Alpenregion, wobei sich jede:r einzeln:e der Studierenden auf eine bestimmte Region fokussiert. Als Ergebnis zeigt diese Arbeit eine Analyse und Dokumentation von restaurierten vernakulären Architekturen in Tirol Oberland. Die Restaurierungsmaßnahmen werden anschließend auf Übertragbarkeit beurteilt und stellen damit einen Fundus von prototypischen Maßnahmen dar für den zukunftsfähigen Umgang mit vernakulärer Architektur. Inhaltlich wird die Diplomarbeit durch das ERC-Forschungsprojekt CLIMATE-Arch (Climate and Contemporary Transformations of Vernacular Architecture - Interaction, Effects and Perspectives) unterstützt.

This Thesis explores the vernacular architecture in Tirol Oberland regarding shifts in technical, social, and climate-related aspects. The aim is to evaluate how the influences of these factors affect the genesis and the typological evolution of architecture. The time window of interest specifically spans the post-war period to the present day. Our focus lies on rural farmstead architecture that serves residential and ancillary agricultural and, therefore, economic functions. A comprehensive investigation in Tirol Oberland was performed and compared to a control group consisting of buildings from Tirol Unterland. Thereby, it is possible to portray and highlight the main characteristics of the vernacular architectures of interest. The key elements of this analysis include architectural documentation of regionally distinctive buildings through photographs and plans. This analysis was complemented by interviews held with architects, residents, craftspeople, and public officials with the aim of developing an overview of Tirol Oberland. Consequently, we can provide an insight into the transformations of technical, social, and climate-related dimensions and report them. The thesis is embedded in a broader investigation by a group of students into the Alpine region as a whole, with each student specializing in a specific subregion.For that reason, it contributes to the examination and documentation of restored vernacular architectures in Tirol Oberland. The restoration interventions were evaluated explicitly in terms of transferability and therefore provide a repertoire of prototypical approaches for a sustainable engagement with vernacular architecture to encourage preservation of existing structures.
