This study evaluates how familiarity influences UX ratings of Apple App Store and Google Play Store among 40 iPhone and Android users using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). Participants rated their familiar app store highly, while the unfamiliar store scored lower, particularly on pragmatic usability factors like perspicuity, efficiency and dependability. Results highlight the challenge of overcoming resistance to change and the need for alternative platforms to address usability barriers. These findings offer insights for fostering user adoption and competition in mobile app ecosystems.
