Der Superblock als Antwort auf den Klimawandel? : eine Untersuchung des klimatischen Mehrwerts und der Umsetzung am Beispiel Wien

Abstract

Es wird wärmer und die Städte stehen vor großen Herausforderungen. Die steigenden Temperaturen sind in der Stadt besonders stark zu spüren, wodurch die öffentlichen Räume und Straßen sich dieser Entwicklung anpassen müssen. Eine zukunftsfähige Stadtplanung kann hierfür entscheidend sein, um resiliente, nachhaltige und angenehme Räume zu schaffen und nachhaltig zu sichern.Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit setzt sich das Ziel, das innovative Superblock-Konzept als Teil der Wiener Klimaanpassungsstrategie aufgrund des ökologischen Transformationspotenzials zu erforschen. Es wird analysiert, inwiefern das Konzept dazu beitragen kann, den Straßenraum zu transformieren und durch Klimaanpassungsmaßnahmen ökologisch aufzuwerten. Der Fokus liegt auf der Reduktion von urbaner Hitze, was in Wien als zentrales Problem erkannt wurde. Hierbei wird der weltweit erste Superblock in Barcelona als wichtigste Referenz analysiert und eingeordnet. Weiter stellt der erste Superblock in Wien eine Blaupause für weitere Projekte, weshalb dieser als Teil der theoretischen Basis untersucht wird.Auf dieser theoretischen Basis wird unter realistischen Bedingungen ein konkreter Superblock-Entwurf im Wiener Kontext geplant und aufgrund des Transformations- und Klimapotenzials bewertet. Das Ziel ist es, Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung des Klimas zu integrieren bei gleichzeitiger Berücksichtigung von Bedürfnissen und Anforderungen eines urbanen Stadtviertels.Der Entwurf bildet im letzten Schritt die Grundlage für eine detaillierte Klimasimulation, welche das Mikroklima untersucht und abschließend die Ausgangslage mit dem Entwurf vergleicht und bewertet.

It is getting warmer and cities are facing major challenges. The temperatures are rising, which is particularly noticeable in cities, therefore cities, public spaces, and streets must adapt to this development. In this case, sustainable urban planning can be crucial in creating and sustainably securing resilient, sustainable, and pleasant spaces. This thesis aims to analyse the innovative superblock concept, as part of Vienna's climate adaptation strategy, based on its ecological transformation potential. The study analyses how this concept can contribute to transforming street spaces and improving their ecological value through climate adaptation measures. The aim is to reduce urban heat, which has been identified as a key problem in Vienna. In this context, the world’s first Superblock, located in Barcelona, will be analysed as an important reference project. Additionally, the first superblock in Vienna represents a blueprint for future projects, which is why it will be studied as part of the theoretical basis.Based on this theoretical basis, a superblock design is planned under realistic conditions in the Viennese context and according to its transformation and climate potential. The aim is to implement measures to improve the climate and also include the needs and requirements of an urban neighbourhood.In the final step, the design forms the basis for a detailed climate simulation, which analyzes the microclimate and compares and evaluates the baseline with the proposed design.
