dc.description.abstract
Feedback is essential in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) systems for physical activity, and well-designed feedback can support users' well-being. However, there is a lack of clear understanding of how to evaluate such feedback effectively. We address this by developing the Bodily Feedback Quality Scale (BFQS) to assess if users perceive feedback during physical activity as appropriate, supporting bodily awareness. Contrary to past work, our scale is specific to the properties of the interactive system providing the feedback. Using a systematic approach, we created BFQS, which allows designers and researchers to measure the insights gained through feedback. We demonstrate the validity of BFQS through a series of validation studies. This work contributes to the broader understanding of feedback's role in HCI for physical activity and supports designing improved feedback systems.
