dc.description.abstract
The integration of immersive technologies like extended reality has the potential to transform Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education, particularly in learning factory environments. Although extended reality has the potential to enhance student engagement and skill acquisition, its adoption in higher education remains inconsistent and fragmented. This paper proposes a structured framework for systematically integrating extended reality into university-level education, using the Vienna University of Technology as a case study. The framework outlines essential elements for successful extended reality adoption, including 3D content development, cross-platform compatibility, staff training, support systems, and resource management. Key findings highlight the benefits of collaborative and immersive learning, along with challenges such as content complexity, hardware limitations, and accessibility. The results serve as a replicable framework for other learning environments to implement extended reality technologies effectively in higher multidisciplinary education.
