dc.description.abstract
This thesis examines the introduction and implementation of flexible grid connection contracts in theEuropean and Austrian context. The starting point is the recent reform of the EU electricity marketdesign, which established flexible connection models as a tool for more efficient use of existing gridinfrastructure. Based on an analysis of European requirements and their transposition into Austrianenergy law, the study focuses in particular on the situation in Upper Austria, which, as an importantindustrial location, is particularly affected by grid bottlenecks. A comparison with initial experiencesin Germany highlights similarities and differences as well as possible lessons for nationalimplementation. On this basis, the paper develops recommendations for action for policymakers andgrid operators, aimed at the legally clear, economically viable, and practical application of flexiblegrid connection models. The goal is to support the energy transition through faster projectimplementation, ensure security of supply, and at the same time strengthen the competitiveness ofindustry.
