dc.description.abstract
This thesis examines the introduction and implementation of flexible grid connection contracts in the European and Austrian context. The starting point is the recent reform of the EU electricity market design, which established flexible connection models as a tool for more efficient use of existing grid infrastructure. Based on an analysis of European requirements and their transposition into Austrian energy law, the study focuses in particular on the situation in Upper Austria, which, as an important industrial location, is particularly affected by grid bottlenecks. A comparison with initial experiences in Germany highlights similarities and differences as well as possible lessons for national implementation. On this basis, the paper develops recommendations for action for policymakers and grid operators, aimed at the legally clear, economically viable, and practical application of flexible grid connection models. The goal is to support the energy transition through faster project implementation, ensure security of supply, and at the same time strengthen the competitiveness of industry.
