dc.description.abstract
The terahertz (THz) spectral range holds significant importance across various scientific domains, presenting various applications from spectroscopy to imaging. Quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) are promising sources of THz radiation, being electrically driven and capable of delivering high output powers within the THz spectrum.[1] Unlike traditional lasers, in random lasers (RL) the modes are determined by multiple scattering and not by the laser cavity [2]. The feedback mechanism of these lasers relies on a disordered gain medium which has the benefit of having broadband optical feedback and a significant alteration of the emission spectrum without equally spaced modes [3].
