dc.description.abstract
As climate change increases the frequency of combined sewer overflows (CSOs), urban waterways face heightened risks of microorganisms contamination, jeopardizing public health during recreational activities. Blue-green infrastructure (BGI) can help mitigate this challenge by reducing stormwater runoff, limiting overflows, and filtering contaminants. However, its effectiveness in urban bathing areas remains largely unexplored. This study addresses this gap by integrating hydrodynamic modeling and Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA) to evaluate future contamination risks under various BGI implementation scenarios. By combining hydroclimatic models with QMRA, we aim to quantify BGI's impact on reducing pathogen exposure in urban environments, providing critical insights for safeguarding public health, enhancing long-term water safety management, and increasing urban resilience to climate change
