Heterocycles are organic cyclic compounds characterized by one or more heteroatoms in their structures. The most diffuse examples in chemistry are the five- or six-membered heterocycles bearing a nitrogen, oxygen, and/or sulfur atoms. They are the largest and most varied family of organic compounds showing several biological activities and represent more than 50% of the nowadays existing drugs. In this chapter, the syntheses and biological applications of aziridine, triazole, and piperazine derivatives are reported, considering their importance in organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
