The paper examines the building ceramics and technical installations of the medieval Maiden Tower (Qız Qalası) in Baku. Central to the study is a ceramic conduit element (a vertical ceramic pipe) running through all eight storeys of the tower, which provides evidence for non-military uses and a complex technical infrastructure. The authors analyse the archaeological features, materials, and construction methods from a building-archaeological perspective and discuss the implications of these ceramic installations for the interpretation, functional concept, and construction history of the tower.
