This PhD thesis aims to develop a novel separation process as an environmentally friendly alternative to the previous treatment of starch hydrolysates. Since the method used so far do not allow the industrial continuation of the process in Europe due to regulatory framework conditions. Therefore, this research focuses on developing alternative techniques to secure Austria's starch hydrolysates and derived products further. In particular, process development will involve treating and decolourising starch hydrolysates for food production together with the sugar and starch industry. This research will involve experimental and modelling work focusing on membrane separation processes.
