dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
As the occurrence of flood events increases with rising global temperatures, the need for adaptation increases. Nature-based solutions (NBS) are cost-effective and environmentally friendly measures to absorb the impact of flood events. To implement NBS, large-scale numerical simulations are required. This study proposes a coupled numerical model for the realistic representation of NBS in urban catchments. The model is based on a two-layered Green-Ampt model and a second-order BHNW scheme. The proposed model can assist in identifying vulnerable regions and optimizing the implementation of NBS to enhance flood resilience. The simulation results show that the proposed model effectively captures the complex interactions between overland flow and infiltration in stratified soils.
