dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
This thesis deals with the modelling, simulation and the analysis of a spatial interaction model, which is, as a behavioural model, a macroscopic approach for describing any kind of spatial interaction. The first part reviews the theoretical backgrounds and formal structure of these models. A general definition of a gravity model for spatial interaction behaviour will be discussed. Furthermore important specifications as well as the describing functions of the model will be examined. The theoretical review is the foundation for the development of a migration model. This model is developed to fit into the theoretical framework of gravity models for spatial interaction behaviour and is analysed in its structure in relation to the specifications of the first part of the thesis. Moreover the qualities and limits of these models are examined. The model behaviour is analysed in terms of different underlying situations and a characterisation is presented. As an application the migration model is used to simulate the migration movement from Syria into and within Europe during the so called refugee crisis 2015. The situation itself and its influencing factors are analysed and the availability of data is discussed. Comparison of the simulation results and the data shows a qualitative description of the migrations movements with the developed model. For a comparative analysis a second underlying situation is implemented and based on this the applicability of the model is examined. Concluding the possibilities as well as the limits of the migration model are discussed and an outlook of possible enhancements wil be presented.
