dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
More than half of the population of Vienna was either born in rural areas of Austria or foreign countries. [1] Predictions claim that urbanization will increase within the next few years. [2] How can a city like Vienna provide affordable housing for those people and simultaneously react to permanently changing requirements? This thesis has the aim to become a part of the whole solution to that problem. Taking existing approaches into account, I am specializing on temporary buildings. A metabolic network of residential housing of different quality will emerge and act as an incremental connection to the existing housing market, through developing transportable modules, which are located at infrastructural attractive public spaces. Therefore the combination of the modules can react on changes in quality as well as quantity and integration can take place in the middle of the City.
