Abstract:
Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Rolle von sozialen Innovationen in lokalen und regionalen Entwicklungsprozessen vor allem im Kontext der Schrumpfung. Im Rahmen der Betrachtung von drei Fallbeispielen in Österreich werden verschiedene praktische Zugänge zu sozialer Innovation betrachtet, die zeigen, dass lokal entwickelte Lösungen für die Befriedigung bestimmter Bedürfnisse praktikabler, flexibler und effizienter sein können.

The thesis examines the role of social innovations in local and regional development processes, particularly in the context of shrinking. Through analysing three case studies to social innovations in Austria it is shown that locally and regionally developed solutions to certain demands are more flexible and efficient than tradtional ones.
