dc.description.abstract
The master thesis, Library 2.0 a new model of library in the center of Copenhagen, is based on a student competition from AWR (Architecture Workshop in Rome) in the year 2014. The thesis deals with a modern and new concept of libraries, in the context of new workspaces, technologies and media devices as well as their impact on architectural spaces. The basic approach for the library 2.0 in this thesis starts with an analysis of the existing library concept. The study asks important questions such as: What is the library about? What does the progress of events look like? What is the meaning of a book in the internet age? What are the influences by new technologies on daily life? How do we study and work today? The project is being developed by concluding from the above questions and including the answers into the programmatic and design concept of the building as well as considering the results of a site study. The project should not only be a solution for the future but also adopt new upcoming technologies, media devices and workflows.
