Das Streben nach Identität - neue Perspektiven für die Turbakaserne Pinkafeld

Abstract

Was macht den Zauber einer Stadt aus? Etwa prägnante historische Gebäude, ihre Geschichte, die Funktion als Schul- bzw. Universitätsstadt oder als Hauptstadt, ihre traditionellen Feste, bekannte Persönlichkeiten oder die landschaftliche Einbettung? - all das sind Gegebenheiten, welche das Bild einer Stadt prägen können und bei denen häufig die Vermarktung einer Stadt ansetzt. Was aber ist das Echte in der Stadt? Diese und weitere Fragen bilden einen Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit. Es soll beleuchtet werden, wie eine Stadtidentität heutzutage definiert werden kann, ohne etwa auf den Einfluss eines Stararchitekten setzen zu müssen. Im Zuge dessen sollen neue Perspektiven für die Stadt Pinkafeld (Südburgenland) erläutert und konkrete Lösungsvorschläge für die Umnutzung eines ehemaligen Kasernenareals aufgezeigt werden. Vom neu definierten Gesetz zur Veräußerung von Bundesheervermögen ist auch die Turbakaserne Pinkafeld betroffen. Seit 2009 stand fest, dass das Jägerbataillon in die modernste Kaserne Mitteleuropas nach Güssing (Südbgld.) verlegt wird. Laut Verantwortlichen der Stadt gäbe es bereits Gespräche über die weitere Nutzung des fünf Hektar großen Kasernenareals mit Siedlungsgenossenschaften. Geht es aber nach den Meinungen vieler Stadtbewohner, soll auf dem Areal keine weitere gesichtslose "Wohnbatterie" errichtet werden. Deshalb soll mit dieser Arbeit ein identitätsstiftendes Konzept als Gegenposition angeboten werden.

What makes the magic of a city? Approximately concise historical buildings, its history, its function as a school or university city, or as the capital of their traditional festivals, famous personalities, or the scenic embedding? - These are all conditions that can shape the image of a city and which often attaches the marketing of a city. But what is the real thing in the city? These and other questions are a focus of this work. It is to be illuminated, how a city identity can be defined today, without the influence of a star architect. As a part of this new perspectives for the city Pinkafeld (South Burgenland) will be explained and concrete solutions are presented for the conversion of a former barracks site. From the newly defined law on the sale of army assets the Turbakaserne Pinkafeld is also affected. Since 2009, it was clear that the battalion will be moved to the most modern barracks in Central Europe to Güssing (South Burgenland). According to city officials there were already talks on the further use of the five-acre barracks site with local construction companies. But according to the opinions of many city dwellers, no more faceless settlement should be built. Therefore, this work offers an identity-concept as a contrast.
