dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
This Thesis is aiming to analyse, optimise and backtest an investment strategy based on derivative financial instruments. The basic building block of this strategy is a butterfly, which is a combination of a long put, a short put, a short call and a long call. This combination of options is enhanced by skillful use of short and long futures, using various exemplary scenarios to explain this approach. To optimise this method, the appropriate choice of parameters is optimised by means of simulation. Finally, the optimised investment strategy is tested and evaluated using historical S&P 500 tick data.
