dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
This paper covers an ecological and economical comparison between a rehabilitation and a new construction on the sealed ground of a single-family home on the basis of a case example in Upper Austria. Because of the importance of land management and sustainable building in the field of architecture this is an topic of interesst. With energy coefficients, OI3 indicators and life-cycle costs analysis, an attempt was made to define which version has a positiv or negativ impact on the environment. A focus on the right material and structural shape choice was developing. The results of this analysis show that in ecological and economical counts the rehabilitation would be more efficient than the new construction. This paper can propose some useful measures. The choice of materials is one of the main aspects of sustainable designig.
