Zero, T. (2015).

This Master Thesis is about the construction and dimensioning of a heat storage tank built out of granite. The thermic energy, which is obtained by solar collectors, should be transported by a heat transfer medium into the heat storage tank and be buffered there. Depending on the demand, the energy inside the tank should be extracted purposefully and transported into a single-family house. Another key aspect of this Master Thesis is the optimization regarding the diameter of the pipes, the distance between the pipes, the mass flow rate of the heat transfer medium, the number of solar collectors and the loss of thermic energy over time in dependent on the type and thickness of the insulation. The modeling of the building structure for a specific thermal heat demand, as well as the simulation of the ambient parameters for a specific location, were carried out with the program TRNSYS 16 (TRaNsient SYstem Simulation program). The programming of the overall thermodynamic system, the particular components, as well as their interaction according to different criterias, were carried out by the program MATLAB in the version R2012b. In the first step of the thesis the storage unit was modelled in detail with the best possible accuracy for analyzing the behaviour of the granite material over time during saving of the energy. With this research an active layer of the granite was determined, which formed the basis for further calculations. In the next step simplified model assumptions were taken into account to make the calculation of the overall system for several periods possible. For that all possible conditions of the storage, the inserting and extracting of the energy as well as a bypass of the storage were simulated. The result of the Master Thesis is a program in which all relevant parameters, for example the geometric dimensions of the storage, the mass flow and the heat transfer medium can be adjusted. The result of the simulation shows a trend of the storage temperature and a percentage of the used heat sources. Possible heat sources are energy from the storage, energy from the solar panels, which is bypassed and gets directly into the house and energy from external sources.
