Meine Diplomarbeit befasst sich mit dem Neubau eines Museums für Moderne Kunst. Einerseits wird die Aufgabenstellung behandelt, einen bestehenden Museumsbau zu erweitern, der aufgrund von Platzmangel zu wenig Ausstellungsraum bietet, um alle Exponate ausstellen zu können. Andererseits verlangt die prominente Lage inmitten eines Zentrums für Kultur einen Ort, der Menschen aus der ganzen Welt anzieht. Inspiriert von der Ausgangslage eines 2016 ausgeschriebenen Architekturwettbewerbs, wird in dieser Arbeit die schrittweise Entstehung eines Gegenvorschlags für den Bauplatz am Berliner Kulturforum beschrieben und grafisch dargestellt. Das neue Museum schafft Raum für neue Ausstellungsflächen und zieht Passanten direkt von der Straße in das Gebäude.

My diploma thesis deals with the construction of a museum for modern art. On one hand the task of the enlargement of an existing museum is treated, which due to a lack of space, offers too little exhibition space, in order to present all art pieces. On the other hand, the prominent location in-between a cultural center demands a place that attracts people from all over the world. Inspired by the starting position of an architectural competition announced in 2016, this thesis describes the progressive development of a counter proposal for the building site at the „Kulturforum“ in Berlin. The new building creates exhibition space and attracts pedestrians right from the street into the building.
