Titelübersetzung des Autors: A new home stadium for SK Rapid
-
dc.description.abstract

SK Rapid Wien is the largest sports club of Austria. It-s actually home side, the Hanappistadion in the West of Vienna, built in 1977 and containing 17,000-seats, is no longer sufficient. It is in need of a new home stadium, so it-s old stadium side was picked to create a modern Football stadium, capable to host an audience of 30.000. Nowadays football fans expect maximum security and atmosphere , as well as various catering options. Identification with the club is becoming increasingly important, as it grows the fan binding and the advertising value. The stadium is to be iconic, it must generate identification. Therefore, the planning task is to design a modern identity-founding football stadium. As a building site, the location of the old stadium was determined by the club. At an approximately 63.000m2; big side, surrounded by residential housing, a 30,000-seat arena shall rise. The claim is also not to design another shopping- and leisure-time- center with a stadium included, but a football temple. It should speak the language of football.
