Pinocchio 2020 : eine Bibliothek für Kinder und Jugendliche : Collodi, Toskana, Italien

Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Entwurf einer Bibliothek für Kinder und Jugendliche in Collodi, Toskana, Italien. Collodi ist der Geburtsort von Carlo Collodi, der Schriftsteller von Pinocchio und erinnert an seine Erzählungen durch einen Park, dessen Namen er trägt und 1951 gebaut wurde. Eine weitere Erweiterung des Parks wurde für 2020 geplant und damit entstand auch die Not für eine Bibliothek und eine Ausstellung, die die Sammlung der Collodi-Stiftung aufzeigen könnte. Das Grundstück befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe des Pinocchio-Parks und enthält eine alte Papierfabrik, die im 16. Jahrhundert entstand. Die Papierfabrik als Teil der Geschichte, sowohl von der Stadt Collodi, als auch der Toskana, wird ebenso Teil des Entwurfs. Das Grundstück enthält noch eine interessante Charakteristik, da es vom Fluss Collodi in zwei ungleichmäßige Teile getrennt wird. Die Grundlagen des Entwurfs beziehen sich auf einen schon existierenden Ideenwettbewerb von Young Architects, der meinen Strebungen und Wünschen entsprach und mir die Möglichkeit geboten hat diese klarer aus zu definieren. Obwohl dem Entwurf ein Wettbewerb zugrunde liegt, geht dieser über die vorgegebenen Grenzen der Auslobung und präsentiert die Bibliothek nicht mehr als einen gefrorenen Ort, sondern als einen Ort der Dynamik, wo Lesen und Lernen eine Erfahrung in Bewegung sind, die den Kindern nahekommt. Die Grenzen des Objekts, zwischen der Bibliothek und der Ausstellung, zwischen Bibliotheksinneren und Außenraum oder der Ausstellungsräume und der Außenwelt, werden unscharf, fast unsichtbar.

The Master Thesis presents the project of a library for children and youngsters in Collodi, Tuscana, Italy. Collodi is the birthplace of Carlo Collodi, the writer of Pinocchio, the city rememorizes his stories through a park that was built in 1950 and received the name “Pinocchio”. A future expansion of the park was planned for 2020, which created the need for a library and exhibition space that would serve the Collodi foundation. The site is situated next to the Pinocchio Park and has on its grounds a 16th century paper mill. The paper mill is part of the local history as well as part of the history of the Tuscanas. The site has another interesting characteristic because it`s divided into unequal parts by the Collodi river. The starting point for the project was an existing competition by “Young Architects” that corresponded to my wishes and my desires and that offered me a realistic site that I could relate too. Despite the fact that the project is related to an existing competition, the project goes beyond the limits of the brief and presents the idea of library not as a frozen place, a place of silence, of labour, but as a place of dynamics, where reading and learning are an experience through movement. The boundaries of the project that are between the library and the exhibition or between the library and the outside or the exhibition and the outside are diffuse, almost invisible. A place where the book can be taken outside and that does not belong to the silent and controlled space of a classical library.
