The influence of the IEEE 802.15.4a channel model
parameters on the performance of the Time Difference Of
Arrival (TDOA) localization method in Impulse Radio Ultra-
Wide Band (IR UWB) systems is addressed. As a consequence
of the cluster structure of the stochastic 802.15.4a
channel model some channel parameters between the IR
UWB transmitter and each of the reference sensor nodes in
the sensor array are spatially correlated. This quasideterministic
structure of channel parameters is assumed, when a
spatial signal model on sensor array is based on this channel
model for TDOA localization purposes. Thus, the influence
of channel correlation as well as geometrical arrangement of
the reference sensor nodes on the positioning accuracy is the
main focus of our investigation.
