dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
Due to the development of the economy to a demand-oriented delivery and storage of consumables and products, the requirements for the storage technology are becoming higher and higher. In order to meet these requirements, shuttle systems are increasingly installed. Because these systems are highly flexible and achieve highest performances. The challenge at the design of such shuttle systems is the mathematical representation of the interaction of the two main components, lift and shuttle. This thesis is intended to address this problem. For this, an attempt is being made to calculate the throughput of a shuttle-system. This calculation is based on an open queuing model with limited capacity according to MacGregory Smith. Different shuttle-system configurations are treated analytically in this thesis and all calculation approaches are validated by discrete simulation with the simulation program SIMIO. In the result chapter of this work the results from the analytical calculation are comply with those of the discrete simulation. This shows that the developed analytical calculation comply with the simulation. In addition, comparisons between the various system configurations are also presented. With this analytical calculation method it is also possible to optimize the geometry of the rack regarding tot he throughput and the energy consumption. As an outlook for further research, an expert system can be sought which provides the optimal handling system and the optimal geometry of the rack.
