dc.description.abstract
In this thesis models for building-related energy converters and storage systems are described and simulation results are presented for reference sites and reference periods. Findings from several research projects are incorporated into the work. The legal and economic framework for renewable-energy systems is regarded in addition to technical issues. The aim of the work is to find out how to get to the point of a "socially optimal" energy system, with a particular focus on the buildings sector. This point can only be reached by an all-embracing solution. The work shows that in addition to a further optimization of the technologies, which are already available today, holistic approaches become more and more important because the complexity of buildings is increasing: This applies on the one hand to each stage of a building's life cycle (planning, construction, maintenance) and on the other hand to each discipline involved in the establishment and maintenance (spatial planning, architecture, building physics, facility management). Due to the diversity of building-technologies, attention must be paid to a suitable embedding of the energy converters, the interfaces be-tween the systems, the quality assurance in the construction and the monitoring during the operation. This is shown in the work using specific examples. The need for greater interdisciplinarity in all building-related fields results from these challenges.
