dc.description.abstract
In this thesis a systematical approach how to plan an engine validation for an industrialization project has been developed. The newly defined process is given in a bottom-up procedure in means of functional and complexity matters, it starts with the analyzation of requirements of a component in view of validation and ends with a procedure to select the needed cycles and meet the demands a customer puts on the engine. To reduce complexity and fit the scope of a master thesis the engine validation concept is based on three components, which have been selected on their different development scope (new – advanced – technology switch during production) and their significance for a modern engine, as they serve as major applications in the different scopes of efficiency improvement in an internal combustion engine. The validation planning approach is supported by methods around the general process of product development by VDI, in addition it can be seen as a recursive step to check the degree of fulfillment of requirements that have been stated to the product. It serves as an example and can be easily modified to fit any other industrialization project.
