dc.description.abstract
The aim of this study was to develop a defined target cell standard (DeTaCS) to be used as an internal process control for qPCR based MST tools for water quality monitoring. The reference cell standard designed in the present study is based on an Escherichia coli strain, containing a defined but randomly generated DNA target for a qPCR assay. The target is present as a single copy in the genome of the modified E. coli strain and does not match any known sequences in nature.
