dc.description.abstract

The Master thesis shows the development of an in vitro test apparatus for shoulder joints endoprosthesis. One part of a shoulder prosthesis is placed in the machine¿s static assembly, while the other part is mounted in a dynamic assembly. This dynamic assembly is able to rotate and tilt freely referring to the pivot point of the artificial joint, enabling the simulation of every natural anatomically correctly position of the shoulder joint. The intended use is the measurement of the coupling force of magnetically coupled prosthesis parts in a tensile test. The dynamic assembly features an additional longitudinal axis, used to decouple the prosthesis. At first the concept and project planning shall be discussed. Afterwards an emphasis will be put on the design and construction of mechanical components and their production. The machine consists of turned parts, milled parts and sheet metals. The development of the electrical and electronic components follows. The measuring and control technology for the actuators and sensors of the machine is developed as an embedded system using Atmel AVR microcontrollers. Stepper motors, load sensors, linear- and angle sensors are installed. The Master thesis gives an insight into their programming and the integration of the user interface. The commissioning and testing of the machine is discussed. Finally, further recommendations are made to expand the machine with new features.
