Loidolt, C. (2015).

This thesis is devoted to the current more and more considered concept of "territorial capital". This capital includes all tangible and intangible, private and public factors of production, as well as the knowledge and skills to utilize these potentials as effective as possible. However, the concept is still rather young and so far considered mainly theoretical. Therefore, there are currently still missing concrete details about the framework and empirical studies. In this thesis, this problem will be taken up and examined by using general statistical analysis in connection with the Austrian regional development. It is mainly about the question, which aspects and factors of territorial capital show significant influences on the development of the Austrian NUTS-3-regions in the recent years. The results of the investigation are subsequently used to formulate recommendations for future empirical research regarding the indicators to be considered, as well as the temporal and spatial framework. In addition, it should also serve as a suggestion for regional development, about how the theoretical concept of "territorial capital" can be implemented in the regional planning practice.
