Medellín ist eine Stadt, die sich seit etwa 15 Jahren in einem großartigen Transformationsprozess befindet und sich im Bereich der Stadtplanung zu einem Vorbild für ganz Lateinamerika entwickelt hat.<br />Vormalig bekannt aufgrund des Medellín-Kartells und der dunklen und gewaltvollen Drogenperiode der 80er, erregt die Stadt nun Aufsehen wegen der innovativen Ansätze zur Verbesserung der Lebensrealität in Invasionsvierteln.<br />Ausgangspunkt für mein Projekt ist ein Ideenwettbewerb, der 2011 die Planung eines Museums über diese Stadt als Aufgabe stellte. Im Stadtmuseum soll der Besucher an den aktuellen Geschehnissen und möglichen zukünftigen Entwicklungen Medellíns teilhaben und ein Verständnis für die Geschichte der Stadt erlangen - das Museum als Ort der Identifikation, Information und Reflexion.<br />Der Wettbewerbsbauplatz befindet sich auf einem zentralen innerstädtischen Hügel - dem "Cerro Nutibara". Von desse Spitze erhält man eines der bekanntesten Panoramen des Stadtzentrums sowie Rundblicke auf das gesamte Ballungsgebiet und die umliegenden Bergketten der Anden.<br />Die Verortung des neuen Museums auf der Hügelspitze schenkt dem Besucher inhaltliche und visuelle Überblicke zur Stadt.<br />Mein Projekt beschäftig sich mit der Wiedererschließung des Hügels als Naherholungsgebiet, der Integration des neuen Museums in den Bestand und dem Spannungsfeld zwischen Funktionalität und Icon. Ziel ist es, mit überlegten Eingriffen den Charme des Hügels zu unter- streichen und einen Impuls für seine Entwicklung zu setzen.

The project is based on an idea competition, carried out 2011.<br />The task of the project is a museum about the columbian city Medellín - a city that has gone through a great process of transformation in the last 15 years. Former known as a dangerous and violent city, known for the drugs and the Medellín Cartel - it has changed to a role model in city planning improving live situation in poor neighbourhoods through innovative measures. In the new city museum visitors will be informed about the actual city planning, future projects and the history of the city. The building site is located on a small hill in the middle of the city.<br />From the top of the "Cerro Nutibara" you get one of the most famous panoramas of Medellín and you can see the whole urban area and the mountains which circle it. The new museum is placed on the hill top - in this way the visitor can inform himself about the city while getting a visuall impression and overview of it. Main tasks of the design process where the revitalisation of the hill area, the integration of the new building complex in the existing buildings situation and a design between the poles of function versus icon.<br />
