Tracer diffusion experiments and impedance spectroscopic measurements are presented for three thin film systems: Sr-doped LaCoO3-x (LSC) on YSZ, SrTiO3 on sapphire and YSZ on SrTiO3. It is shown that different effects can be probed by the two techniques and thus both methods complement each other very well. Among others, it is shown that a SrTiO3/YSZ interface does not lead to a high ionic mobility and that tracer concentration steps in LSC help correctly understanding oxygen reduction kinetics. Moreover, indication of space charge zones near the surface of SrTiO3 thin films is given.
