Komet : ein Kultur- und Veranstaltungszentrum auf den ehemaligen "Kometgründen" : a cultural and event center on the former "Kometgründe"

Abstract

Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit plane ich einen Ort für kulturelle Veranstaltungen auf den ehemaligen „Kometgründen“ im 12. Wiener Gemeindebezirk, der den BesucherInnen verschiedene Möglichkeiten zur Bespielung bietet. Neben Räumen für Veranstaltungen, Workshops und Ausstellungen, bietet das Gebäude Flächen zur Erholung und unentgeltlichen Open Air- Veranstaltungen. Im Kern versuche ich, eine kritische Haltung zur aktuellen Baupolitik einzunehmen und die Anliegen der BewohnerInnen zu berücksichtigen, die sich seit Jahren erfolgreich gegen die Errichtung eines Einkaufszentrums auf dem gewählten Standort wehren. Der Bauplatz, der sich in exponierter Lage, in einer Verkehrsund lärmtechnisch äußert komplexen Situation befindet, soll dabei aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln betrachtet werden: Zum einen wird der Ort selbst, der lineare Fluß und die Geschwindigkeit der Umgebung, in der Form des Gebäudes interpretiert. Die Veranstaltungsräume, gedacht als Orte der Entschleunigung hingegen, sind als monolithische Volumina, umgeben von der Hülle des Bauwerks, nach akustischen Prinzipien entworfen. So ist es, durch die rasante Entwicklung von Hardund Software, möglich geworden, komplexe Räume mittels Simulationssoftware auf akustische Phänomene zu testen und die Erkenntnisse in den architektonischen Entwurf einfließen zu lassen. - Im Zuge meiner Arbeit, werde ich die geplanten Veranstaltungssäle anhand von geltenden akustischen Grundlagen entwerfen, mittels Akustiksoftware simulieren und das Ergebnis interpretieren. Entstehen soll ein Bauwerk, das die Gegebenheiten des Ortes aufgreift und durch seine Einbettung ins Stadtgefüge versucht einen Knotenpunkt für die BewohnerInnen der Wiener Bezirke 1120 und 1150 zu schaffen. Der Kontrast zwischen Geschwindigkeit und Entschleunigung bzw. Außenraum und Innenraum bietet hierbei Grundlage für einen neuen Ort der Identifikation, des Austauschs und der Aktivierung von gemeinsamen Interessen.

With the present work i want to create a place for cultural events on the former „Kometgründe“ in the 12th district of Vienna which offers the visitors a variety of possibilities for cultural activities. In addition to rooms for events, workshops and exhibitions, the building offers areas for recreation and free open-air events. I try to take a critical stance on the current building policy while considering the concerns of the residents who have resisted for years successfully against the establishment of a shopping center in the chosen location. The site is located in an exposed area in a traffic and noisy situation and should be viewed from different angles. On the one hand the place itself, its linear flow and the speed of the environment are interpreted in the form of the building. On the other hand the event spaces which are intended as places of deceleration are designed as monolithic volumes. They are surrounded by the shell of the building and developed according to acoustic principles. Due to the rapid development of hardware and software it has become possible to test complex rooms using acoustic simulation software to incorporate the outcome into the architectural design. - In the course of my work I will design the planned venues on the basis of valid acoustic principles and simulate them by means of acoustic software. The aim is to create a building that takes up the conditions of the place and tries to create a hub for the residents of the 12th and the 15th district by embedding it in the city structure. The contrast between speed and deceleration or the external space and interior provides the basis for a new place of identification, exchange and activation of shared interests.
