Abstract:
Reduction of structural vibrations can be achieved by several mechanical methods and technologies. In the laboratory of the Center of Mechanics and Structural Dynamics (TU-Vienna) small-scale frame models under earthquake excitation are tested. Thereby a viscous damper, originally used in model cars, is attached to the structure together with an appropriate leverage construction that allows a variation of the relative displacement of the damper.
