dc.description.abstract
The underground railway is this kind of independent rail system for transportation, which is designed without any crossings, fully independent from the other transport systems and which linear network is limited within the city. The construction of the metro comprises a wide range of expedient, reasonable, secure and well-grounded types of construction works. The construction of tunnel sections and stations becomes possible thanks to the application of different construction methods.
In the present diploma paper, the three construction methods, which are applied for the construction of the metro in Sofia, are systematically analyzed. The * Open Construction Method * Semi-open Construction Method * Closed Construction Method are described under the same criteria for consideration. The principles for selection and application of each construction method, the structural types and construction partition approaches thereupon are discussed and explained based on the extended, commissioned facilities of the metro in the city of Sofia. The type of production of the method is mentioned briefly as an introduction of each construction method.
Thereafter, the specifics of the construction realization of the method are divided in consistent construction stages. Each construction stage is discussed separately and it is presented and arranged step by step according to the approved plan and implementation decision in Sofia.
Later on, the advantages and disadvantages of the different construction method are summarized. At the end, the most important materials for the construction of Sofia metro, as well as the accompanying quality security during the extension of the underground metro structures are discussed.
