Today there exist many applications for entangled photon pairs.
Quantum cryptography, quantum information and quantum computation are the most important research areas that make use of quantum entanglement.
The aim of this diploma thesis is to provide an easy to use entangled photon source for such applications. Finally the source should be fully automated and well characterized. During this work we implemented the first steps towards this final goal, namely a pump beam controller, automated fiber coupling, and an automated characterization by a quantum state tomography.
