Abstract:

Today, the topic of exhaust emissions of combustion engines plays a significant role. In order to fulfill standards of emission limits, innovative systems, which are able to comply with restrictions in a fast and robust way, are needed. In this work an active gas dosing system for a stationary gas engine is developed and different control strategies are analyzed, in order to show the different possibilities of the control of such systems. The literature survey showed that a venturi mixer and a butterfly valve for the manipulation of the gas mass flow meet the specifications. Therefore they are chosen to be the main parts of the gas dosing system. Problems with the modeling of the parts of the gas dosing system, especially implicit equations as well as algebraic loops, had to be solved. The control based investigation is subdivided into controllers with and without lambda-value feedback. It is shown that also the simple approaches to the control strategies can have appreciable results. Since this work is only theoretical, the results could not be validated on a test bench.
