dc.description.abstract
The usage of bored piles of diameters less than 30 cm (in the literature also called as root-, mini-, composit piles respectively piles with small diameter) for redevelopment and also to reshape older buildings in case of damage (as an example for no more sufficient bearing capacity of wooden piles) has got more and more important during the last few years. In the redevelopment area due to the trend of attic extension of older urban buildings ("Gründerzeithäuser") an appopriate building method has become necessary to get the higher foundation loads based on a residual bearing capacity of the original foundation in deeper soil layer. One advantage of using small bored piles is the gentle production. In comparison to other building methods like high pressure soil stabilisation for small bored piles no larger openings are necessary, which avoids a reduction of stability of the existing foundation. An other advantage is that the diversion of loads to the soil is analog to the original used wooden piles in vertical respectively nearly vertical direction. That helps to avoid damages at the existing structure caused by changed tension condition. By means of two typical older Viennese buildings ("Gründerzeithäuser") for two characteristic soil profiles the procedure of loadfinding before and after redevelopment and also the choice of an economical pilesystem is shown. As well as the results of the load finding it is necessary is to calculate the pile amount, pile length and pile diameters for the improvement of foundation by means of the present valid Austrian standards.
Additionally the buckling - problem of slim piles and possible calculation approaches are shown.
Target of the master's thesis is to give general calculation basics, required design steps and an approximative first calculation of foundation - underpinning for similar buildings.
