Abstract:
The present master thesis deals with the practicability of a lifting bridge construction which is built with the balanced lift method. This procedure was developed by the Institute of Structural Engineering at the Technical University of Vienna.
This work is focused on the behaviour and analysis of a bridge during the opening and closing process. We can already find this bridge model in another thesis2 which used a field trial at the Aspanggründe using a model scaled 1:5/6 to proof the theory. The examination of this experiment was compared and evaluated with a static and dynamic calculation method. Due to the result the bridge's structure has been optimised. Especially useful to control the opening and closing movement is the installation of a water-powered hydraulic cylinder. In the course of the analysis we could see a rather big variance between the result of the test trial and the dynamic calculation. This difference is caused by the needed simplification of the dynamic system modelling. The outcome of the static evaluation is agreeing with the experimental results. Furthermore the results are showing that it is crucial to minimise the development of dynamic forces. Due to this conclusion the use of a static calculation is sufficient for a controlled lifting and closing process. In consideration of all obtained facts a lifting bridge construction with balanced lift method is particularly suitable for the discussed task.
