Eine der größten Städte im Vereinigten Königreich, Manchester ist als die erste Industriestadt der Welt bekannt. Während der industriellen Revolution wurde sie als hoch entwickeltes Zentrum der Textilherstellung betrachtet. Der Erfolg in der Baumwollindustrie führte zu einer Stadterweiterung und zur Einführung von neuen Innovationen. Um die Produktion schneller und einfacher transportieren zu können, entwickelte die Stadt ein Kanalsystem, das die Stadt mit dem Hafen von Liverpool über den Fluss Mersey verbindet. Später in Folge der Niedergang der Textilindustrie begann Manchester sich zu einer führenden Maschinenbau- und Elektroindustrie zu entwickeln und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die Stadt für ihre fortschrittliche technologische Entwicklung bekannt. Der industrielle und wirtschaftliche Erfolg half dem kulturellen Leben der Stadt. Ehemalige Fabriken wurden in Wohn- und Büroräume umgewandelt und die Stadt begann eine Errichtung von neuen Kultur- und Bildungsgebäuden.Das Hauptziel des Projekts ist es, eine Brücke zwischen der modernen Welt und der heutigen Kultur zu finden sowie ein kulturelles Leben in der Stadt zu integrieren, wo die Technologie und Innovation eine Hauptrolle spielen. Um die Brüche mit dem Traditionellen und den schnellen Wandel zu einer Moderne aufzuzeigen, wurde der Dekonstruktivismus als Hautpunkt dieser Arbeit gewählt.

One of the biggest cities in the United Kingdom Manchester is known as the world`s first industrial city. During the Industrial Revolution it was considered as a highly developed center of textile manufacturing. The success in the cotton industry resulted in town`s expansion and introduction of new innovations. In order to transport production more quickly and easily, the city developed a system of canals connected to the port of Liverpool via the River Mersey. Later with the decline of the textile industry, Manchester started to rise as a leading engineering industry and after the Second World War, the city became well known for its progressive development in technology. The industrial and business success helped the cultural life in the city. Former factories have been converted into residential and office space and the city started a process of establishing new cultural and educational buildings.Finding a bridge between the modern world and the culture and how to integrate a cultural life in a city where the technology and innovation plays a main role is the main goal of the project.In order to show the breaks with the traditional and the fast change to a modern, deconstructivism has been chosen as a key point of this work.
