dc.description.abstract
dc.description.abstract
The master thesis concerns with the former spinning factory in Teesdorf in Lower Austria, which is under monumental protection.
A theoretical study is written to form the base for the architectural concept. On the one hand the analysis explains the history of the spinning mill, particular the spinning and weaving machines which were used in the factory and their effects on the architecture. On the other hand it shows the functions, purposes and authorities of heritage conservation, especially of industrial buildings.
The elaborated concept revitalizes the empty spinning factory and observes the standards of the heritage conservation. The flexibility of the reinforced concrete construction enables an functional and architectural concept. The spinning mill is fitted with the contemporary usage of reversible offices, temporary living quar-ters and public spaces at the ground floor. A new atrium, which is cut in, obtains enough natural lighting, ventilation and creates a vitalized space with fascinating view connections and incidence of light. The thermal rehabilitation takes place by use of a second cover which has no consequences on the historical front of the spinning factory. The architectural concept is supposed to show that an utilization of the spinning factory is possible and also technical feasible.
