Ländliche Coworking Spaces : eine explorative Studie der Umsetzbarkeit in österreichischen und deutschen Großunternehmen

Abstract

Die moderne Arbeitswelt, wie wir sie heute kennen, hat sich im Laufe der Zeit durch vielerlei Triebkräfte, wie beispielsweise die Globalisierung sowie den technologischen, institutionellen und demografischen Wandel, verändert. Aufgrund der umfangreichen Auswahl von Arbeitsmöglichkeiten und infrastrukturellen Angeboten in Ballungszentren und der damit einhergehenden zunehmenden Abwanderung der ländlichen Bevölkerung, kommt es zu Herausforderungen, mit welchen mittlerweile Gemeinden, Unternehmen sowie auch die verbliebene Bevölkerung am Land zu kämpfen haben. Der zunehmende Leerstand in historischen Ortskernen, (der mit dem Verlust baukulturellen Erbes einhergeht), hohe Stauzeiten und Pendeldistanzen zum Arbeitsplatz und geringe Chancen beim „War for Talents“bereiten den Akteuren zunehmend Sorgen, führen allerdings auch zu kreativen neuen Ideen.Als Coworking Spaces werden Orte bezeichnet an denen Menschen über die Firmengrenzen hinweg zusammenarbeiten und Wissen teilen. Dem Konzept des Coworking liegt ein Netzwerk zu Grunde, welches die Innovation und die Weiterentwicklung der Coworker_innen fördert. Coworking Spaces, welche bisher vorallem in städtischen Destinationen zu finden sind, können in Form von ländlichen Coworking Spaces ein Schlüssel zur Lösung der skizzierten Probleme bilden. Die Erhaltung des baukulturellen Erbes, die Reduktion des Pendlerverkehrs und die damit einhergehende Verbesserung der Lebensqualität der Beschäftigten bilden dabei nur einige Vorteile, welche potenziell bei der Anwendung von ländlichem Coworking möglich sind. Städtische Unternehmen nehmen durch die räumliche Flexibilisierung der Arbeit und als Initiatoren ländlicher Coworking Spaces eine zentrale Rolle ein.Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den vorhandenen Herausforderungen des ländlichen Raums und der positiven Wirkung von ländlichen Coworking Spaces auf die betroffenen Akteure. Durch narrative Interviews mit Facility Manager_innen von Großunternehmen wird der aktuelle Stand der Umsetzung und Etablierung flexibler Arbeitsmodelle einer Vorbedingung für ländliches Coworking - bei den Großunternehmen im städtischen Raum empirisch untersucht und ein Ausblick hinsichtlich zukünftiger Fördermöglichkeiten vorgenommen.

Todays modern business world has been changed over the course of time due to avariety of key factors, such as globalization and technological, institutional and demographic change. In consequence of an extensive selection of job opportunities and infrastructural offers in metropolitan areas, the emigration to the cities of the ruralpopulation is increasing. This trend leads to new challenges for small municipalities,companies and the remaining rural population. Long traffic jams, increasing vacancyrate in historic town centers, long commuting distances, the examination of new forms of work and the “War for Talents” do have an essential role for all parties. However,this evolution gives the opportunity for alternative and innovative approaches and ideas.Coworking spaces are location where people work together and share their knowledge without any restriction of the companys location. The basis of the coworking concept is to enhance the advancement and the innovativeness of the coworkers, due to the high degree of interaction and networking between all participants. The present situation is that Coworking spaces have mainly been founded in urban destinations. Therefore, rural coworking spaces could be a key linkto improve the modern business world to preserve rural structures, reduce shuttletraffic and increase quality of life of employees are just a few of the advantages that can be attributed. The central role to force the provision of rural coworking spaces do have urban companies and rural communities.The present work deals with the existing challenges of rural areas and the possible positive effects of rural coworking spaces to all parties. The current status of the feasibility and establishment of this flexible working model was empirically determined as a precondition for rural coworking spaces - by a potential survey among companies in urban areas. Additionally, an assessment of future approaches and founding opportunities is illustrated.
