dc.description.abstract
The subject of the thesis is to study the various aspects of geometric Asian options.<br />It begins with a general introduction to financial mathematics and the Black-Scholes model, in which the foundations for the more specific studies of the other chapters are provided. Then, the Cox-Ross-Rubinstein binomial model is introduced, which is used later in Chapter 7. Chapter 6 is the beginning of the main part of the paper: the different Asian options are presented and the explicit formulas for the Black-Scholes model are derived. In Chapter 7, following a paper by Dai from 2003, the valuation of geometric Asian options in a binomial model is analyzed. It is shown, that the original formulation with two state variables can be reduced to an efficient one-state variable model. The paper ends with a translation from a paper by Zang and Yang from the year 2008 about the equivalence of different Asian options in a Lévy-process model.
