Abstract:
We report on the terahertz measurements of a GaAs membrane with a grating of strips formed lithographically in a two-dimensional high-mobility electron system. The designed metasurface demonstrates a highly anisotropic response. For the incident radiation polarization along the strips, a plasma edge is present in the transmission through the structure. Its frequency can be controlled by engineering the geometrical parameters of the metasurface. When the excitation polarization is perpendicular to the strips, no plasmonic response is observed apart from the transmission governed by the Fabry-Pérot function.
