Autofreies Leben – Analyse von Gründen und Motiven für den Verzicht auf ein eigenes Auto

Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Themengebiet der Autofreiheit und identifiziert Motivationen für den Verzicht auf ein eigenes Auto. Erkenntnisse aus diesem Gebiet sind für die Verkehrswende wichtig, damit gezielte Maßnahmen gesetzt werden können. Eine retroperspektivische Betrachtung von Mobilität ermöglicht außerdem Untersuchung von Ursachen für die Autolosigkeit, sowie dessen soziale Bedingtheit.Dazu wurden mehrere Tiefeninterviews durchgeführt, mit Menschen, die ohne eigenes Auto leben. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die meisten Menschen aufgrund von finanziellen Gründen auf ihr Auto verzichten und sie es in der Stadt nicht benötigen. Umweltschutzgründe hingegen spielen nur eine untergeordnete Rolle in der Motivationslage zum Leben ohne eigenes Auto, da praktische Gründe viel häufiger genannt werden. Für die Politik bedeutet dies, dass Autobesitz in der Stadt unpraktisch gestaltet werden muss, damit mehr Menschen in Zukunft auf ihr eigenes Auto verzichten. Neben der Bereitstellung von technischer Infrastruktur für Alternativen zum eigenen Auto benötigt es außerdem einen gesellschaftlichen Wertewandel, der ein autofreies Leben mitpositiven Assoziationen in Verbindung bringt.

This thesis deals with the topic of car freedom and identifies motivations for not owning a car. Findings from this area are important for the traffic turnaround so that targeted measures can be taken. A retrospective view of mobility also enables investigation of the causes of car free living and its social conditionality. To this end, several in-depthinterviews were conducted with people who do not have their own car. The results show that most people give up their car for financial reasons and do not need it in the city.Environmental protection reasons, on the other hand, only play a subordinate role in the motivation for living without a car, since practical reasons are given much more frequently.For politicians, this means that owning a car in the city must be made impractic also that more people will do without their own car in the future. In addition to the provision of technical infrastructure for alternatives to one's own car, there is also a need for a change in social values that associates a car-free life with positive associations.
