Larisch, M. (2013).

Stammersdorf is a village north-east of Vienna with a well established viticulture tradition. In the recent decade, areas around Stammersdorf and the village itself developed into a popular residential area. Thus, the village noted an increase of erected residential buildings. However, those buildings do not take into account the grown village structures. This project blends viticulture, wine, and living, so that it comes together in unity. The aim of this project is to accelerate, in compliance with geographical conditions, the strength of the local conditions of the village and to create new residential buildings in the form of single-family homes. The project uses the advantages of the prevailing typology of a courtyard house and puts it in confined space. Consequently, a high quality of living within a confined space can be achieved. The shape of the project allows for creating spacious and handicap-accessible outdoor spaces without elevators. By using planting concepts, the outdoor spaces are used to lead the place back to its original agricultural utilization. Wine stores, wine cellars, bottle filling machines, and seminar- and tasting rooms preserve and strengthen the tradition of the viticulture village.
